Sneakers & People

13/1/2017 This could have been a typical blog post...

however, it is not :) There are a bunch of words here, straight from the heart. So, youngsters:watch and learn! Young Adults: This is a reminder!

For the most of us, the urban legend claims that Run DMC wrote a song for their favorite sneakers, adidas Originals Superstars! They were them who chose the 3 Stripe Outfit.

Others followed as well, likeCypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Psycho Realm etc.

Of course, we should not forget to mention the Reggue movement and the legendary Bob Marley and his sons, Damian and Stephen who became adidas Originals idols!

The all time classics and worldwide favorites Converse All Stars, which outline the outfit of most of music artists and cultures like Rock,

Grange (like Kurt Cobain),

Punk-Rock (like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, the Exploited etc), Metal and Hardcore.

Undoubtedly, Hardcore kids are the tribe that wears Sneakers. Bands like H2O, MadBall, Terror, Agnostic Front, No Turning Back can be taken as good examples.

Also the Straight X Edge coulture. All these Drug Free people base their whole outfit onto sneakers,

having Nike Air Max releases like, Zero, One, 90 and Jordan as their top choices.

It would be no surprise for someone to say "come on dude, Punk-rockers and hardcore kids are lookalikes"... Yeah bro but the hardcore kids are wearing more comfortable clothes! LoL.

We cannot forget the ONE of the kind, Mr Henry Rollins from Black Flag who has been one of the biggest Vans Ambassadors for so long!

Keep in mind that VANS is organising Tours with these bands!

Mr. Toby Morse, frontman of H2O and a P.M.A (Possitive Mental Attitude), is a loyal follower of sneaker culture and it is said that he probably owns the biggest collection of Nike Sneakers in the West Coast.

All the above however, can be easily stay in the shadow of the myth, the one, the GOAT. MJ, is the ultimate influencer around the world. He...embedded the love for the game of basketball globally. Fashion world could not resist! He managed to cover a big amount of styling needs and he did it perfectly and with respect to everyone. And this is obvious for all HipHopers! It is well known that so many artists have dedicated their songs to Jordan Sneakers and the persona as well. A very classic situation is the soundtrack of Space Jam movie with Hit ‘em High song written by B-Real (Cypress Hill), Busta Rhymes, LL-Cool-J, Coolio and Method Man.

Another one is “John” from Lil Wayne and Rick Ross who talks about their Nike and Jordan pairs.

In any case, you dont have to be same with all the above or even be a diver in Hardcore or HipHop music to wear the kind of sneakers you adore. Our opinion is that sneakers is something more than a pair of shoes. They are expression, code of communication, they are life!

Let us not judge sneakers from their price. Allow your soul to go beyond the surface and search for the story behind each pair. Our goal is to feel free and comfy. Fashion? Culture? Comfort? Art? Caged Here ;)

Until the next blog,

Salute.
