Let’s start this blog post with a question: We all know who is Tobie Hatfield right? Ok Nike addicts, don’t google it around, save your energy for this text. Brother of swoosh legend Tinker, Tobie is the Chef behind Air Presto. He recently revealed how this sneakerhead’s cult classic came into life back in 1996. Passionate for his job (really?) as a footwear developer, he had a focus group who mentioned that they desired footwear that offered the same comfort that slippers provided. The group also said that they didn’t want their feet to fight with their shoes. Not long after that focus group meeting, Hatfield decided to work on a sneaker which would have an uncluttered design, unmatched comfort and use materials that could offer him the opportunity to form an ideal canvas for wild prints, like pixel patterns, tropical scenes and desert camo. The rest is history. It boomed in 2000, and has become one of Nike's most popular running shoes ever. These sock-like “t-shirts for your feet” have appeared in countless colorways and prints so far. |
