adidas Originals celebrate the relaunch of Gazelle with an original global collaboration with artist Doug Abraham, aka @ bessnyc4. The iconic supermodel from England, Kate Moss is the face of this campaign.
"Intervening" in his own unique way on an iconic photograph from 1993 in which Kate Moss wears Gazelle, Abraham uses innovative creative approach to transform fashion and memories of pop culture into something familiar, discovering a new perspective of the past. Abraham and his work revive the main message of the campaign of Gazelle - 'Steal from history to create the future, nothing is sacred'.
"The history and heritage of Gazelle, give us inspiration to create the future," says Nic Galway, Vice President Global Design of adidas Originals. "With the relaunch of Gazelle, we looked at the original reports of contemporary culture that determine its authenticity in style. Kate Moss always had a close relationship with the brand of adidas Originals and her passion for Gazelle back to the '90s is proof that this sneaker was incorporated in the style and pop culture of the time. "
With its 1st appearance back in the 60s, Gazelle has a rich heritage due to the timelessness from generation to generation and adoption of different cultural and stylistic influences. All the way from the fashion scene mods, reggae, Britpop, also grunge to pop culture, this photo of Kate Moss in 1993 is the most emblematic reference of Gazelle. The photograph of the rising-at that time-supermodel, would later set the basis of grunge style, reflecting at the same time the essence of the Gazelle.
